Sunday School
At Dunchurch Baptist Church we have a lively and active Sunday School with all ages well catered for. We value children and what they have to offer the church. They are very much part of the church family.
Over the past year we have had about 45 children and young people regularly attending on a Sunday morning plus at least 20 visiting children.
Our goals for each age group are as follows:
MiniZone Age 2+
For pre-school children to enjoy being in church and in Sunday School, have fun finding out about Jesus and the Bible, be free to express themselves in worship both in Sunday School and church.
KidZone Reception/Infant School Age
For infant children to explore thoughts and feelings about Jesus, begin to pray together, take part in worship in Sunday School and church and begin to understand that faith influences how we behave.
Y-Zone Year 3 to Year 6
For children to pray and read the bible for themselves, understand that they can choose to have a relationship with God through Jesus, take a more active part in worship in Sunday School and church and begin to explore what it means to live their lives for Jesus.
Year 7 to Year 9
For pre-teens & young teens to be challenged to follow Jesus as their Saviour and Lord and be baptised, explore Christian discipleship more deeply, begin to contribute more fully to the life of the church and to share Jesus with others.
Year 10+ have a programme of age-related activities including helping younger groups once a month.
The children often participate in the service before going to their own groups, by joining in quizzes, acting out stories and so on. At Christmas time the children take part in presenting the nativity – always in an interesting and original way!
In order to safeguard all children who take part in church activities we have a Child Protection Policy in place. This is based on the "Safe to Grow" document published by the Baptist Union. We provide training on an annual basis to everyone who works in a voluntary capacity with children and have procedures in place to respond to concerns.
