Mission
Mission is high on DBC’s agenda. We believe in a God who cares for all the peoples of the world, so we want a concern for the whole world to be part of our life as His church.
Some members of the church have worked in other countries for shorter or longer periods and various young people have taken the opportunity to spend some time overseas during a gap year.
We are really glad that they can show God’s compassion and offer support to churches in other countries as they share their faith with those around them. We also learn a lot as we get news from them while they are there and when they return, and this helps us to pray with more understanding and care. Being associated with missionaries working overseas for longer periods also helps to make mission more personal.
Besides going out into the world ourselves, and praying for missionaries and the people they serve, another way in which we can help is by donating money, and each year we give part of the income of the church to various mission projects. This year we will be giving to BMS World Mission, BU Home Mission and Parish Nursing among other causes. We also have special collections for other missionary projects such as the Samaritan's Purse shoe box appeal.
We have a small mission group who co-ordinate communication about mission with the congregation, and some church members are involved in various other projects.
