Holiday Club 2010 – Rocky's Plaice
Rocky's Fish & Chip Shop (at DBC…) was the venue for this year's Holiday Club. Each of the children became a member of one of four fishy teams – the Whacky Whelks, the Mad Mussels, the Potty Prawns and the Crazy Clams – and every day the competition was on: who remembered the Bible verse best? Who could sing loudest and most enthusiastically? And … who could be quiet quickest?
Mornings at Rocky's Plaice were filled with singing, crafts, Bible stories, fishing, games, and of course the antics of Pepper and Salt, imcompetent but keen trainee chefs (played keenly and competently by Ste and Kim), and their boss, the unpronounceable Mr Tagliatelle (played with gusto and panache, not to mention a dodgy accent, by Dave).
On the last day both children and helpers dressed up. The theme was "fish" (what else!) and there was an interesting collection of mermaids, fishermen, a jellyfish, a bottle of tomato ketchup, fish fingers and a piano tuna (see if you can spot some of them in the photographs below).
Besides decorated biscuits, jumping men (and women) and other crafts, each team also made a life-sized doll based on one of the week's Bible stories. There was an ascending Jesus, Cornelius, a man at Pentecost, Dorcas, and the lame man who was healed. They were proudly displayed during the Sunday service following Holiday Club.

The holiday club was led by a team of adults who were all aware of the Baptist Union Safe to Grow procedures and who also ensured that a safe and secure environment was provided at all times.
